Core with an A1S pearl cover for length and a defined move off the end of the pattern. The Equinox Solid put an A2S solid cover on that same core for early traction on heavier oil. Bowlers kept asking for the piece in between, and that is exactly what the Storm Equinox Hybrid is.
Storm calls this the most balanced Equinox to date, and the build backs it up. The same tri-cylindrical Solarion A.I. Core sits under the second generation of Storm’s Adhesion System, A2S Hybrid Reactive, finished at Power Edge. The solid and pearl components of that cover work together: enough traction to read the oil without burning up, then the clean, recognizable Storm shape at the back. The Equinox Hybrid is a high performance asymmetric built for medium to heavy oil. The Solarion A.I. Core measures RG 2.48 with a .054 differential and a .018 PSA at 15 lb, so it revs up early and flares hard, and its tri-cylindrical shape changes the ball’s dynamic properties as it travels down the lane. That is what keeps it from over-skidding while still holding energy for the finish. A2S is the second version of Storm’s patented Adhesion System, and it pushes oil absorption rates to the limit while creating a tackier than normal feel on the lane surface. In hybrid form, the solid and pearl components split the work: the solid side supplies traction in the oil, the pearl side keeps the ball from checking up early and preserves the backend.

The Equinox Hybrid is the balanced high performance piece in the middle of a Storm bag. It is stronger and earlier than a pearl asymmetric, and cleaner through the fronts than a dull solid on the same core. If you already own the Equinox or the Equinox Solid, this is the ball that fills the gap between them rather than duplicating either one.
Surface Adjustments
Power Edge is a strong out of box setup for medium to heavy oil. Dulling the surface moves the reaction earlier for heavier volume, and refreshing the polish restores length when the lanes break down. Have surface changes done at your pro shop so the finish stays even.
Coverstock Care
The A2S Adhesion System pushes oil absorption to the limit, which is part of why the ball grips the way it does. That also means it takes on oil faster than a milder cover, so wiping it down between shots and deep cleaning it regularly is what keeps the reaction consistent over the life of the ball.
